A few months back I saw a post on logicalharmony.net about Marc Jacobs Beauty being cruelty-free and I was thrilled. The only issue I had was that there was no stockist of Marc Jacobs Beauty in Cork. When I went to Milan however, there was so I picked up two bits. A mascara and the Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Scandalust’.
I had been wanting one for a while if I’m honest but I never bothered since the brand wasn’t considered to be cruelty-free, until recently. There are quite a few high end cruelty-free brands such as Urban Decay, Bare Minerals, Smashbox, Kat Von D and Too Faced, but when it comes to luxury Charlotte Tilbury is one of the few brands available. It’s nice now to have the option of luxury brands when you do want to treat yourself.
I went for the palette in Scandalust because the colours appealed to me the most and they swatched nicely in store. In Sephora the palette was €46.50 and although pricey, I think it’s worth it.
Matte Shadows- The 3 matte shadows in the palette ‘At the Office’,’That’s Why’ and ‘Littlemiss’ are all very easy to blend and not chalky at all. ‘At the Office’ is my perfect transition shade and all 3 colours are really nice crease colours.
Shimmers- The 2 shimmer shadows ‘Hot Pants’ and ‘Scandalous’ are also really easy to blend. ‘Hot Pants’ is such a pretty inner-corner and brow bone highlight. The undertone of the colour is warm and slightly golden which means it would compliment many skin tones. ‘Scandalous’ adds the small pop of colour the palette needs while still being completely wearable.
Metallics- The 2 metallic shadows ‘Cause a fuss’ and ‘They call Her’ are so soft and pigmented. I dipped my finger into ‘Cause a fuss’ and put I on my entire lid in one swipe one day and it looked so effortless yet put together. These metallics are true to colour and also look pretty on the lid.
I don’t think I’ve ever written such a glowing review about a product if I’m honest, but I am really chuffed with this purchase. The colours are so easy to wear for the day or for the night. The pigmentation and blendability is spot on. The palette is compact and has a good quality mirror also.
I do think it is worth the splurge if you are looking to treat yourself or someone special. There are 6 different palettes, each with 7 shades, so, if you’re looking for something to suit you they probably have it.
There are loads of great quality less expensive eye-shadow palettes out there, so don’t feel like you’re missing out if you don’t want to spend the money on one or can’t get your hands on one. However, if you have been admiring them and toying with the idea of getting one I don’t think you would be disappointed.
Happy Monday! I hope you all have a brilliant week ❤
